Nobody should make lasting judgments over spring performances. But these 21 prospects and young big leaguers are making scouts take notice with big springs.
1. Jac Caglianone, Royals: The former two-way star at the University of Florida and 2024 draftee, now exclusively a first baseman, is killing it. “Caglianone and Bobby Witt will be cornerstone players there for years,” says a scout.
2. Matt Shaw, Cubs: Chicago’s top prospect “can really hit,” according to one scout. There’s still a question if he can play third base, but he’s a keeper.
3. Junior Caminero, Rays: Tampa Bay got a steal in trade from the Guardians, who are another of the smartest teams. Maybe not quite a Fernando Tatis Jr. loss, but oops.
