The Post’s Mark W. Sanchez previews the NL West:
1. Los Angeles Dodgers
O/U wins: 103.5
Key player: Shohei Ohtani. A team filled with superstars only has one unicorn. Before Tommy John surgery, he had emerged as one of the best pitchers in baseball. Purely a hitter last year, he founded the 50-50 club (finishing with 54 home runs and 59 steals). What can possibly be in store for his encore as his arm rejoins his bat as Dodgers weapons? Can the reigning National League MVP win the National League Cy Young Award?
Player who’ll need to step up: Dave Roberts. We’re cheating a bit here with a manager, but the Dodgers might have the most talented rotation, bullpen and lineup in baseball. While others simply try to crack into the postseason, the Dodgers’ season goal will be to get as many players as possible ready for October. There are plenty of injury concerns, from Freddie Freeman to the entire rotation, and Roberts will look to keep a surplus of ability both happy and healthy.
