Luka Doncic meets with an old foe as four-time defensive player of the year Rudy Gobert leads the Timberwolves’ defense against a loaded Lakers offense.
Three-seeded Los Angeles is a -200 favorite at BetMGM to advance to the second round of the NBA playoffs, with Minnesota coming in at +165.
The Timberwolves, who had a wild run to the Western Conference finals last year, have fallen off a bit, having traded Karl Anthony-Towns to the Knicks during the offseason.
As NBA commentator Mike Breen would say, BANG.
BetMGM is bringing the bang to the NBA playoffs by allowing bettors to get their first bet reset for new users, up to $1,500 with BetMGM bonus code POSTBET.

Lakers vs. Timberwolves series preview
We will find out if the Timberwolves are able to match their magic from last season when Anthony Edwards burst onto the scene as a legitimate superstar scorer.
Doncic has repeatedly said he loves playing against Gobert, and that’s clearly shown after he roasted Minnesota to lock in an NBA Finals berth.
The Slovenian sensation averaged 32.4 points per game on 43.4 percent shooting from 3-point range and 47.3 percent from the field in a 4-1 series win over Minnesota.
The Timberwolves will need to do better than that this time around.

Los Angeles is undersized, but the prevailing sentiment is that Gobert will be run off the floor with Doncic and LeBron James hunting him down.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Lakers have some serious issues defending beyond the arc.
In the last 15 games, the Lakers allowed the fourth-highest field goal percentage on threes.
Betting on the NBA?
Minnesota is 12th in 3-point attempts during that timespan and could be live to get a barrage of shots to fall from deep.
As for a bet, look at Donte DiVincenzo to lead the series in 3-point shots made, anything better than 10/1 is a worthy shot.
Meanwhile, I’m targeting the Lakers to win this series in six.
PICK: Lakers win series 4-2 (+500, BetMGM)
